Master of IT – Leena Wallin: “Proactively at the core of business operations”

Lean System–based Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is one of the key foundations of Raumaster Group’s daily operations. Business Solutions Specialist Leena Wallin is responsible for maintaining and developing the system, working in close collaboration with her team and the system supplier, Roima Intelligence.

As a Business Solutions Specialist, Leena Wallin’s main responsibility is maintaining and developing the Lean ERP system used by Raumaster Group, which is simultaneously also being implemented at related party company Rauameister AS.

The ERP system is an important part of business operations, and it also functions as a decision-making tool. The system helps automate tasks and standardise company processes, making everyday work smoother while improving operation accuracy and reliability.

Raumaster Group’s IT Department supports and maintains a wide range of IT functions, including server rooms, cloud services, data networks, cybersecurity, and service management. It also handles end-user IT services and solutions, ensuring a smooth and safe IT environment across the entire organisation.

"It all starts from IT leadership, meaning that our digital solutions and technologies support the company’s goals. IT operations have a significant impact on the fluency of daily work and, through that, the successful execution of projects. The ERP system lets us know where we’re at, and what we’re doing and why, while also helping us manage tasks more efficiently", Wallin says.

"We have our IT operations largely in-house, allowing for close proximity to the end-users, as well as fast response times. We know the operational environment and its requirements. Our team, with varied and comprehensive expertise, offers solutions to almost all IT inquiries in-house."

“In the IT department, we strive to combine in-house technical expertise with a deep understanding of business operations, and a human-centred approach", says Leena Wallin.

Continuous Improvement and Development

Wallin has been working at Raumaster since April 2024. Having graduated as a Bachelor of Business Administration in IT, Wallin is an expert in her field with nearly 30 years of experience in IT operations in limestone, car, and technology industries.

"I’ve spent the past ten years primarily working with ERP systems in different companies and environments. At Raumaster, I get to work across a broad spectrum of IT. My role is independent and self-directed, but I also exchange ideas and find solutions with colleagues. Through that I am also able to learn and develop professionally all the time", Wallin says.

“Clear process control and careful documentation are central factors in risk management.”

Wallin emphasises that IT is no longer just a support function or a provider of equipment and systems, but an active partner at the core of business operations.

"IT can offer business operations many kinds of benefits. We ensure that systems across different areas are efficient, stable, up-to-date, and well-managed. Clear processes and documentation help minimise risks. Continuous development and close collaboration as part of business processes are essential."
