Delivery of a new roll handling and wrapping line to India

West Coast Paper Mills Ltd (WCPM) has ordered a new roll handling and wrapping line for graphic paper grades from Raumaster Paper.

The new paper production line will be erected in Dandeli, approximately 650 km southeast of Mumbai. The primary raw material will be pulp produced in their own mill. The new Voith PM 6 with a wire width of 5,850 mm will have an annual production capacity of approximately 130,000 metric tons.

The delivery of RMP includes the complete roll handling system from the winder to the sheet cutters and via roll wrapping line to the shipping area. Rolls are moved with slat conveyors, turning conveyors and a lift to the various operations inside the finishing house. The scope of supply also includes roll handling accessories such as winder deck, stoppers, kickers, pocket ramps etc. The complete system features the RMP non-hydraulic technology, which means that all functions are performed either with electrical gear motors or pneumatically.

Spiralmaster roll wrapping line comprises an ID station (roll measurements, barcode reading), automatic core plugging station, spiral wrapping station including kraft wrapper dispenser, inner header manipulator, rotating rollers and crimping device and header press. Stretchmaster film wrapping line includes a stretch wrapping head, rotating rollers and a labeling system.

The delivery includes also a comprehensive control system with remote fault diagnostic system ASM (Abnormal Situation Management) and PC-based Product Tracking System with 3 workstations. Clear operator interfaces make the operating of the line illustrative and easy.

RMP will also provide the supervisory services for erection, commissioning and training.

The start up of the plant is scheduled for June 2009.

This is the second order from India since the company started the operations there late 2007 and therefore a proof of RMP's capability to provide required technology and serve customers also in the new market areas.
